Sound Effects
One of the ways I wanted to help our audience feel like they were experiencing a great big adventure in our tiny black box space was through our sound design.
Rachel, our sound designer, worked to create an atmosphere that would really give the audience a sense of being immersed in the world of the play. She worked with faculty advisors specifically about speaker placement to promote the immersive nature. Rachel had plans to place remote speakers in the Croc(Doc)odile's costume so that the sound would travel as the actress moved about the stage. Our dramaturg had plans to also place speakers in her lobby display so that the sounds of Neverland would bleed through into the world of our audience before they even entered the theatre. To the left, are some examples of sound effects one might hear throughout the show. |
